About the Role

As a vital member of the Next Gen Operations team, you'll have the opportunity to lead in supply chain innovation, developing new solutions alongside external partners. This team is pivotal in driving significant advancements in customer and shopper experiences, operational efficiencies, and overarching growth within the grocery sector. You will steer the strategic development and execution of supply chain strategies that significantly impact key business objectives. This role requires a combination of analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and cross-functional leadership as you collaborate with commercial teams, product management, and more. It's an opportunity to spearhead projects that shape the supply chain and influence the direction of Instacart's operational strategies.

About the Team

Next Gen Operations team owns innovation in operations and works cross-functionally to bring new supply chain and fulfillment solutions to market in partnership with retailers and brands. The Next Gen Ops team is charged with creating step-change improvements in growth, customer experience, operations, and shopper experience as we focus on creating new solutions across our multiple operating models and business lines that accelerate the future of grocery. As part of this charter, Next Gen Ops have been key stakeholders in developing Instacart's cutting-edge technology that helps its retail partners bring innovative fulfillment sites to market.

About the Job:

  • Strategic Development and Execution: Design and implement comprehensive supply chain strategies that support key business objectives, such as cost reduction, enhanced supply security, quality improvement, and driving innovation.
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams, collaborating with Commercial Teams, Product Management, and Data Engineering to apply supply chain solutions.
  • Optimization of Supply Chain Operations: Manage and refine supply chain networks for optimal efficiency, overseeing the smooth flow of data and products.
  • Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement: Analyze supply chain metrics to highlight improvement areas, insights, and overall project performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with supply chain and business strategies.
  • Innovative Tools and Processes: Innovate and develop new tools, reports, and processes to facilitate insightful data analysis and operational efficiency.
  • Inventory Strategy: Formulate and execute sophisticated strategies for inventory management, aligning them with market trends, consumer needs, and new business initiatives.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; MBA in a relevant field is a bonus
  • 5+ years of supply chain experience (ecommerce and/or grocery preferred)
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with Excel / Google Sheets, SQL
  • Track record of success navigating and influencing stakeholders across complex matrix organizations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with data analysis and inventory management software
  • Travel will be required (approximately 10-25% of the time)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency with Python and with Project Management tools such as Jira
