ER Registration Representative

Colorado River Medical Center-Needles, CA

I check patients into the emergency room. I collect any copays or deductibles due at time of service. I certify with the insurance company that the patient is on active coverage, and the services will be covered. I am also the whole hospital phone operator (PBX) on graveyard shift. When ER is done with patient charts. It is my responsibility to ensure all the paperwork gets broke down and sent to the appropriate department. I make sure all the patients are signing all the required consents, and they are aware of what each document means. Any patients being admitted from the ER I go in the room and have to get more paperwork signed from the patient. I also require paperwork from the ER Doctor. Meet ambulances in the ER bay to get patients in system as soon as possible. Direct all phone calls, and all the visitors and patients coming through the door. When the day shift people leave at 3 or 4 pm, I register patients that walk into our lab to have blood drawn and register patients for Radiology when they walk in with an order for an x-ray, CT, MRI. When a doctor wants to direct admit a patient, I get all the paperwork together and take them up to the unit.

Dr. Joseph Moza-Needles-Needles, CA

Feb 2019 – Jan 2020

I do all the front office responsibilities: open/close the office, verify insurance, make sure the insurance is in network and we are contracted with the patients insurance provider and collect any copays or deductibles at time of service. Schedule appointments, check voicemails left at the office and return calls within 24 hours, work with other doctors offices to refer patients to them.( basically get all the information together that the new physician will need) that way when the patient goes to the new doctor they will walk in there with a folder full of any/all the records that doctor may need. I take that stress away from the patient. I also do back office duties: this would be where my nursing assistant training comes into play. I check patients vitals and write the information in their charts, then put that patient in a room to wait for the physician. Anything I write in their charts then needs to be put into our electronic system ( Medgen ) I also assist with any procedures the doctor preforms in office, call pharmacies to call in medications for patients, file and pull all charts necessary for the day ahead. I am in charge of referrals and getting prior authorization for the procedures and surgeries that are coming up on our schedule. I am the liaison between the hospital and the doctors office, making sure the hospital has everything they need from us to schedule and get paid for the procedure or surgery. I am the sole person responsible for ordering all supplies needed for the office, front and back supples. So half is just basic office supplies and the other half is medical supplies. I have trained employees, been in charge of making their schedules. I work very closely with the doctor to figure out his schedule and making sure he is able to accommodate the amount of patients. I send any files needed by the state health dept, the coroner, and the DMV.

Valley View Medical Center-Fort Mohave, AZ

Jan 2011 – Dec 2012

Registered patients for the ER, Surgery, Radiology, Ultrasound, and OB. I would inform the patients of their rights and responsibilities, and make sure they understood what they were signing. I would go through each page with them. I put all of their information into the computer, including demographics, insurance information, and emergency contact. I would collect any co-pays that were due. And any deductibles that applied to the procedure they were having done that day. I would need to contact doctors offices and make sure that we have the script or order from the doctor so the procedure could be done. I also had to look up the diagnosis codes and put those in so that insurance could be billed correctly and not be kicked back. I would also audit charts to make sure that all the information was in the computer the correct way. I would take any payment that patients brought into the hospital. I also assisted the nurses and doctors with any information they may need. I would go in the ER and collect all the info from any person that came in by ambulance.
