O.R. TRAX is a healthcare SaaS company transforming how hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers manage vendor access and surgical scheduling. Our platform automates credentialing, enforces compliance, and improves operating room throughput at enterprise scale.
Trusted by the nation's most complex health systems, O.R. TRAX supports hundreds of hospitals and a rapidly growing vendor network — now scaling past 25,000 vendors — with zero-hardware deployment. Hospitals using O.R. TRAX report saving hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, reducing surgical delays, and improving patient safety. We are at an inflection point: the market is largely untapped, the solution is proven, and the next chapter requires a technical leader who can build and ship alongside the team.
This is a rare chance to step into a dual ownership role at a high-growth healthcare SaaS company and leave fingerprints on both the codebase and the product roadmap.
As Chief Product & Technology Officer, you will own the full technology and product lifecycle — from architectural decisions and hands-on engineering to roadmap prioritization and customer-facing feature strategy. You are not a process manager or a deck-builder. You are a builder who also leads: someone equally at home in a pull request as in a product discovery session, and who gets genuine satisfaction from shipping software that solves hard problems in a complex, regulated industry.
You will report directly to the founders, serve as the senior technical voice on the leadership team, and be the person who professionalizes how O.R. TRAX builds, ships, and scales — without losing the startup speed that got us here.
Technology & Architecture
Define and execute the technical vision for the O.R. TRAX platform (built on AWS), ensuring it is scalable, secure, and built for the next phase of enterprise growth
Remain hands-on in the codebase (~20–30% of your time) — contributing to architecture decisions, unblocking complex engineering problems, and maintaining the technical credibility to lead by example
Drive platform modernization: infrastructure, APIs, performance, and security posture
Lead adoption of AI-assisted development practices to increase engineering throughput and embed intelligent workflows into the product
Own security, compliance, and data privacy practices appropriate for a healthcare SaaS environment (HIPAA, SOC 2)
Manage technical debt pragmatically — balancing remediation with forward momentum
Product
Own the product roadmap end-to-end: discovery, prioritization, delivery, and adoption
Translate customer needs, compliance requirements, and market dynamics into clear, well-sequenced priorities
Partner with Sales and Customer Success to ensure the roadmap reflects the voice of the customer and protects retention and revenue
Champion AI-first product thinking — identifying where automation, predictive insights, and intelligent workflows can create durable differentiation in OR scheduling and vendor credentialing
Establish lightweight but effective product processes that match the pace and scale of a 10–25 person team
Leadership & Operations
Build and lead a small, high-output engineering team (~5-7 FTEs) — hiring well, setting clear expectations, and developing the next layer of technical talent
Remove the founders from day-to-day technical and product decisions; become the single accountable owner of the function
Establish engineering best practices, development standards, and delivery rhythms that scale without bureaucracy
Communicate clearly with executive leadership and the board on technology strategy, platform health, and roadmap progress
Must-Haves
Proven experience in a senior engineering or product-engineering leadership role (CTO, VP of Engineering, Head of Engineering & Product, or equivalent) at a SaaS company
Demonstrable hands-on coding ability — you have shipped production software recently and can do so again; this is not an ivory-tower role
Track record of owning both the product roadmap and the technical execution, not just one side
Experience building or scaling a SaaS platform in a regulated industry (healthcare, fintech, govtech, or similar); familiarity with HIPAA and/or SOC 2 is a strong plus
Practical experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into a SaaS product — not experimentation for its own sake, but shipped features that created real customer value
Strong judgment on when to build vs. buy, when to refactor vs. ship, and how to sequence a roadmap under resource constraints
The instinct and appetite to be a doer: you are energized by rolling up your sleeves, not frustrated by it
Nice-to-Haves
Experience in healthcare technology, hospital operations, or surgical workflow software
Familiarity with vendor credentialing, privileging, or compliance workflows
Prior experience scaling a company seeing significant year-over-year growth
Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar) to accelerate personal and team output
Massive impact: You will directly shape a platform that reduces surgical delays, improves patient safety, and saves health systems hundreds of thousands of dollars a year
Real ownership: This is not a committee role. You will have full authority over the product and technology function — and full accountability for outcomes
Explosive growth: Proven solution, untapped market, and a vendor network scaling past 25,000 — the runway is long and the timing is right
Startup energy, big vision: Your voice matters from day one. We celebrate wins, ideas, and genuinely love what we're building
Fully remote: Work from anywhere in the US
