Performance Marketer, Japan (client-facing) - Amazon Ads
RocketAMS
JapanOther
performance marketer, based in Japan, starting now. The person a client talks to week to week, with a path to full-time by the end of the year if it's a fit.
RATE — Around AUD$50/hour (about ¥5,600), reviewed as things grow
COMMITMENT — Freelance now, path to full-time by the end of 2026 LOCATION — Based in Japan, Tokyo preferred. Remote day to day
START — As soon as you can. We're onboarding now
We're a fast-growing Australian agency that runs Amazon and TikTok Shop for global consumer brands, and we're expanding into Japan.
What the role is
- The main point of contact for the clients on your book, week to week
- Running the weekly client call in Japanese, and everything around it
- Turning campaign results into updates a non-marketer can follow
- Telling us what the client actually said, so the work gets sharper
- Working with our strategy and delivery team, not around them
- Freelance and light to begin with, growing as your book does
You'd suit this if
- You've run paid campaigns somewhere: Amazon, Google, or Meta
- You can explain performance marketing without the jargon
- Japanese is your working language with clients, English with us
- You've sat in front of clients before and held your own
What it isn't
- A strategy role. You won't be writing the media plans
- Full-time yet, or a fixed 20 hours a week to start
- A big agency. You'll work directly with me
- Amazon-only. Google or Meta experience carries over fine
- A translation job. You'll work in Japanese, but the job is the client relationship
How it works from here
A call with me, in English. Then a short paid task on real anonymised data, which you walk us through in Japanese the way you would with a client. About two hours, and we pay for it.
Requirements
- You've run paid campaigns somewhere. Amazon, Google, or Meta all count
- You can read performance data and explain what it means to someone who isn't a marketer
- Japanese good enough to hold a client relationship, including how you'd write to a client's marketing manager
- English good enough to work with an Australian team
- You're in Japan, ideally Tokyo, and can meet in person now and then
- You can start more or less straight away
- Some overlap with Australian hours for team calls
Nice to have, not needed: Amazon Ads on amazon.co.jp, Vendor Central, TikTok Shop, or other Japanese marketplaces.
Benefits
- You'll work directly with the founder, not through layers
- Freelance now, with a real path to full-time by the end of 2026 as the Japan book grows
- A team behind you doing the campaign work and the analysis, so you lead on the client
- Remote day to day, with occasional in-person in Tokyo
- Modern tools: ClickUp, Slack, Google Workspace
