Senior BackEnd Engineer

Job Description

Axonius is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own the architecture and evolution of scalable Python-based microservices, data integrations, and core platform capabilities. In this role, you will act as a technical right-hand to the Engineering Team Lead, breaking down complex platform goals into structured execution roadmaps. You will collaborate across cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain high-performance backend systems using AsyncIO, FastAPI, and modern distributed data stores.

Responsibilities

• Architect and scale end-to-end Python backend systems, microservices, and APIs using AsyncIO, FastAPI, Celery, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Lead end-to-end technical initiatives by breaking high-level platform goals into actionable sub-tasks, multi-phase delivery milestones, and backlog priorities.
• Build high-throughput integrations with external APIs, third-party software applications, and complex data sources.
• Collaborate with Product, Frontend, DevOps, and Security teams to establish decoupled software boundaries and risk-mitigated deployment strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience specializing in backend systems architecture and distributed components.
• Hands-on proficiency in Python or C# with demonstrated expertise in clean code architecture, object-oriented design, and maintainable software patterns.
• Proven track record of leading technical projects from design through production deployment, including task breakdown, milestone planning, and risk mitigation.
• Practical experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, asynchronous communication flows, and multi-tier data pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with AsyncIO, FastAPI, Celery, Docker, Linux, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Demonstrated experience handling complex data structures, graph-based data models, or enterprise network topologies.
• Proven experience modernizing legacy backend infrastructures with zero-downtime deployment strategies (e.g., canary rollouts, shadow testing).
• Prior experience acting as a technical team lead, focal point, guiding sprint planning, and mentoring junior/mid-level engineers.
