?'? Job Summary

We've long been excited to have a Technical Writer join our Customer Experience team to own the documentation experience for Cortex users. We are looking to formalize a role that encompasses technical documentation as part of the product release cycle to process management, long-term content strategy, enablement, and ongoing customer support.

If you're a product-minded technical writer or former developer passionate about translating technical concepts to engaging educational content within the context of improving the developer experience, this role is for you.

As our first Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating comprehensive and user-friendly documentation for Cortex.io's products and services. You will work closely with our Engineering, Product, and Customer Experience teams to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, concise, and accessible documentation. This role offers a unique opportunity to build the vision for our documentation strategy from the ground up and make a significant impact on the success of our products.

?? Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-quality documentation for Cortex.io's products, including user guides, API documentation, tutorials, and release notes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and ensure accuracy and completeness of technical content.
  • Drive the development of documentation standards, templates, and processes to streamline content creation and maintenance.
  • Continuously improve existing documentation based on user feedback, product updates, and industry best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and technologies to ensure documentation reflects the latest features and capabilities of Cortex.io's products.
  • You'll spend time digging into source code and meeting with all members of the Customer Experience teams and Engineering teams to gain a deep understanding of our product offerings.
  • Work with Product, Sales and Customer Experience teams to triage customer feedback and prioritize requests for tutorials, how-to's, videos, and best practices guides to facilitate user learning and adoption
  • Utilize data from teams and user feedback to understand opportunities for creating or improving current documentation, anticipating common questions and pain points among users
  • Create and enforce processes that ensure documentation is reliably generated and/or updated at the end of every product release cycle. Learn the details of all new features with hands-on experimentation and testing.
  • Conduct proactive user research to inform content hierarchy, content, format and presentation of public docs. Create guidelines for users to give feedback.
  • Work to ensure that our documentation is consistent with existing copy and UX presented in our product itself.

  • Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably in the software industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to speak to a wide range of audiences with a variety of technical understanding - you can explain complex technical concepts with clarity to a user, engineer, or executive and bring the voice of the customer back to the team
  • Strong ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and explain them in a clear and concise manner.
  • You have experience writing content to be consumed by engineers and / or developers
  • You have experience planning, managing and delivering developer-facing documentation across multiple teams
  • You have enough of a developer background that you can read code
  • You're comfortable and familiar with modern cloud services, Docker, kubernetes and Containerization
  • You're self-driven, you love to write and you're passionate about technology
  • You have an eye for detail and an opinion on whether we should title a navigation menu "Develop Locally" or "Developing Locally"
  • Familiarity with GitHub, git, version control best practices, writing documentation in markdown, and leveraging Docusaurus as a framework
  • You have a portfolio of technical writing samples to share
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile development environment

?? Noteworthy

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The base pay for this role starts between $135k and $170k. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for equity and benefits.
